Christina Rodriguez de Conte is a Theatre Artist/Educator/Scholar who lives a hybrid artistic identity that values both the creative production of theatre and a critical conversation. She holdsa Ph.D. in Theatre Studies from Florida State University and a Masters in Theatre Education and Community from Emerson College.As an actor, writer, director, dramaturg and producer, she focuses on Lesbian Theatre, Gender as Performance, and Performance as Activism.
Rodriguez de Conte is known as a playwright for works like My Very Own Cuban American Story of Origin that draws upon my families immigration stories through interviews and lived experiences, a 2014 solo performance which explores what it means to be a Latina Lesbian in the world, Other, short comedic flims, The Lesbian Deathbed, and a queer wizard of oz parody, Friend’s of Dorothy, and large farcical feminist comedies like Shero: Femme Fatale. Currently she is working on Butch, Pregnant & Pissed (on myself), a one woman show that uses projection, puppetry and parody to travel through a comedic recollection of pregnancy to investigate gender expectations, the aggression barreled at Butches, and the moments of pregnancy that gloriously complicated my own predisposition of what it means to be a butch woman.
